Biography

Terry Fitzgibbon is an incurable enthusiast and has been that way since his upbringing in rural Canterbury and Otago. After graduating at Otago University... “protracted studies - I majored in surfing!”... he gained a masters degree in planning at Auckland University, majoring in design theory.

Terry next worked for an advertising agency in Sydney then tackled various assignments in the remote regions of Australia, Asia and Africa.

On his return to New Zealand, Terry has been successfully engaged in various jobs covering almost the entire spectrum of illustrative work including:

• publication design
• editorial, book covers and content
• advertising
• corporate/community communications
• web graphics
• TV animation
• business imaging and branding.

His clients include: Penguin and Puffin Books, Hodders, Sky Television, NZRFU, Sovereign Assurance plus numerous government and local government agencies.

Terry works in a variety of styles - from collage and realism to quirky, line-drawn cartoons – using either traditional or digital mediums. He has illustrated for other authors as well as his own books. His paintings and photographs have been successfully exhibited in galleries in New Plymouth, Auckland and Whangarei.

Terry now lives on a bush-clad farm with his partner Carol who is a school teacher. Those who know Terry struggle with his zany sense of humour and keeping up with him while surfing, boating, and exploring the great outdoors.

Terry offers the key benefit of ensuring his illustrations are end-product/print-ready. His studio has state-of-the-art scanning and computer gear on both PC and Mac platforms with extensive software to match.
