Biography Born in the summer of ’84, Matt Katz is a Freelance Illustrator from Auckland, New Zealand. Ever since he can remember, Matt has been escaping into his world of fantasy, briefly surfacing back to reality every now and again to gain things such as his Bachelor in Design with Honours in 2007 and to collect two Gold Medals in 2008 from the Pride in Print Awards for his Illustrated Children’s book, “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”. After establishing the in-house printing facilities at Chamber Music NZ, he flew the nest and began his great OE. After 10 months in The UK and Europe he is currently experiencing the glory of Canada. Lucky enough to be taught by head designers at Weta, his preferred media is Digital, as this allows him to travel freely and work for anyone, anywhere in the world. He constantly strives to make his painting look like traditionally painted works. He has previously exhibited at Wellington’s Capital E For Kids and Melbourne’s Brunswick Street Gallery. Prints of his work are currently on sale at Auckland’s Depot Devonport Gallery and Toronto’s Blue Banana Market within the Kensington Markets. Later this year he will be exhibiting his works at The Auckland Original Art Show, The Wellington NZ Art Show, The Majestic Gallery in Nelsonville, Ohio and the Auckland Grammar Art Exhibition. |
