| Biography | ||
Gabriella Klepacki was born and educated in Poland in 1955, but spent the last 24 years living in New Zealand. By trade she is an architect, but her real passion is illustrating, which she has been doing, on and off, for over 20 years. She does not have any formal qualifications in fine art, apart from a very thorough training in drawing (School of Architecture). Gabriella has worked for most NZ publishing houses, illustrating books for authors such as Dorothy Butler, Margaret Mahy, Diana Noonan and others. Her biggest fascination lies with people of all kinds, all ages, in all sorts of situations and moods. As for her technique – she works in a variety of media, often mixing them together, incorporating photos into her images, experimenting with interesting tools and materials. Gabriella is available for any kind of illustrating/graphic work, from cartooning, personalised books and stationery, large posters, to architectural presentation… anything that can be turned into an image. Her illustrations are rendered in a manual way, however she uses the computer to process her freehand sketches and enhance her illustrations in a number of ways.
