Biography Suzanne Simpson

Suzanne was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in South Africa. She studied Fine Art at The Foundation School of Art, majoring in Illustration. Before she left the college in 1997 she had already illustrated two children readers.

Since then she has illustrated numerous educational readers under her maiden name (Suzanne Pearce) for publishing companies such as Cambridge University Press, Maskew Miller Longman, Macmillan, JUTA Press and The READ Foundation in South Africa.

During her six year OE, Suzanne cultivated an interest in other cultures and lifestyles and endeavoured to capture this aspect in all her artwork. Extremely versatile in drawing in any style or medium she enjoys illustrating in traditional mediums such as watercolour as well as digitally using Photoshop.

In 2005, she married a New Zealander and recently immigrated to New Zealand. In her short time here she has had work published by Gilt Edge Publishing and Weldon Owen Publishing.
